Practical demonstration of a system for detecting and countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at "Samel-90" AD in Samokov.

"The Bulgarian defense industry is part of the defense capabilities of our army and our country. It is extremely important for them to work hand in hand, and for the industry to develop with the intensity it deserves." This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Katerina Gramatikova-Ivanova, during a practical demonstration of a system for detecting and countering unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at "Samel-90" AD in Samokov.
The demonstration was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Transport, the Navy, the Land Forces, the Air Force, the Joint Special Operations Command, the National Guard Service, the General Directorate "National Police", the General Directorate "Combating Organized Crime", the General Directorate "Border Police", and the General Directorate "Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Counter-Terrorism", among others. The guests were welcomed by the Executive Director of "Samel-90", Eng. Petar Georgiev, and his team.
The main topic of the meeting was the practical presentation of capabilities for detecting, localizing, and countering unmanned aerial vehicles. The Deputy Director of "Samel-90", Eng. Georgi Yonchev, presented the company's concept for a comprehensive solution that combines various components and technologies, which can be configured according to the specific task and the characteristics of the protected facility. During the practical demonstration, the system's operation was shown from both a control and a mobile center. Participants followed the entire process, from the detection and localization of the unmanned aerial vehicle to the deployment of electronic warfare countermeasures.
The solution, presented under the slogan "Clear Sky", is designed to protect military and strategic sites, critical infrastructure, and areas where the use of unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicles poses a security risk. Deputy Minister Gramatikova-Ivanova emphasized the need for a direct dialogue between Bulgarian manufacturers and the structures within the defense and security system. According to her, such meetings and practical demonstrations must accompany new developments in the Bulgarian defense industry, allowing leadership figures to directly familiarize themselves with their capabilities and make informed decisions. "The stronger our defense industry is, the stronger our defense capacity becomes," the Deputy Minister of Defense stated.
The meeting and demonstration provided an opportunity for a direct exchange between a Bulgarian manufacturer and representatives of institutions and structures engaged in defense and security, as well as for a practical showcase of the capabilities of Bulgarian-developed solutions for countering unmanned aerial vehicles.
